Transportation and Traditional food
Wednesday 25th August 2004, by European-mosaic

The second meeting was held in Castrop-Rauxel, Germany where students from the participating school were present.

During this meeting we discussed the first year of the project and presented the output - Monuments and Places of interest - in an exhibition which was held near the school. The students had the opportunity to present their monuments and places of interest to the other participating students and also share their experience and their views about their hometowns. This exhibition was opened by the mayor of Castrop-Rauxel, each participating school has its own space where photos of places of interest were presented together with presentations which the students presented to the group during the previous days.

During our visit we had the opportunity to visit some places of interest in Castrop-Rauxel and nearby villages such as Schwerin Tip - a huge sundial which crowns the peak of an old mining tip, another landmark we visited was the Schuerenbach Tip in Essen - a 15 meter high steel slab, and the Tetrahedron in Bottrop - the sixty meter high pyramid-like structure.

We also visited the city of Münster were we had the opportunity to see the various places of interest such as the church of St. Lamberti, the Town Hall, and the Castle which was the former Prince Bishop’s residence and now forms part of the main building of the University of Münster. Also the students had the opportunity to get to know each other and integrate as a group.

Another visit was to the university of Bochum where we also visited the botanic garden. An interesting visit was when we visited Dortmund were we saw the lift of floating giants - the ship lift which is unique in Europe.

During this meeting we also discussed 2004/2005 meetings which will be held in October in Poland and the second meeting will be in Belgium in May. During this visits we will focus on Transportation and Traditional food.
